November is right around the corner. And if you’re anything like me, the clock starts ticking in terms of making plans, scheduling parties, and buying gifts. But we can prepare in advance and feel more in control. Here are 5 ways to get ahead for the holiday season:
- Write a list of all important events. In my case, we celebrate 2 major holidays and 6, yes 6, birthdays from Nov 1 through Dec 31.
- Next, mark your list with the gifts you need to buy. For birthdays, perhaps that’s 1 person. For holidays, it’s probably a lot more.
- Then create a gift inventory, with names at the top of each column. As you buy gifts, list them under the recipient’s name. If a person on your list will receive a birthday and a holiday gift, make sure you mark them with a specific color or other symbol. Don’t want those overlaps to count as 1 gift!
- Schedule parties. Maybe you aren’t hosting, but if you know someone else is likely having that Ugly Sweater Party or Holiday Kickoff event, note it in your calendar.
- Last, think about extraneous to-dos. We like to put together a holiday craft for extended family. My youngest has already been collecting items for the craft in a bag. Grab wrapping paper on sale at the dollar store. Pick out the cookie recipe you’d like to bake. Decide when to decorate. Plan the side dish you’ll take to the New Year’s Eve bash. And also write this all down somewhere – it will definitely help as the hustle and bustle picks up!
And want the perfect gift idea? Buy that special loved one an Accountability Buddy! We’ll help them get back on track 🙂
