Find the Joy Amongst the Negativity

Listen to the Pgh Dreamer’s Pod:

With constant media noise and the swarm of negativity in the world, it’s hard not to get sucked in…and pushed down. While I am all for standing up for what’s right and contributing to causes, big and small, if we let all of the violence, hatred, and bigotry seep into our brains, we tend to stoop to their level. And this is what the bad guys are hoping for – to bring us down and worse yet, fighting amongst each other.

Shift your focus to something beautiful. Perhaps you listen to a soothing song, have a conversation with someone you love, or escape to a comfortable place. In this environment, you are internally combating the negativity in positive ways. You are sprouting seeds of good instead of withering under darkness.

Again, this doesn’t mean that you need to bury your head in the sand or pretend there are only rainbows and gold in the sky. Instead, it’s an awareness. An active goal to manifest joy in the chaos.

We must focus our attention and energy on the things we can control, and do them with more positivity. Outweigh the bad juju by putting more compassion, acceptance, and optimism into the universe. Each choice that we make contributes to not only our own well-being but also affects the world around us.

Don’t let it steal your shine.
