I have been a technical medical writer for almost 10 years. Prior to this formality, I wrote a number of academic papers, abstracts, and grants. And even before my graduate school training, I slugged through the required book reports and essays of high school and college.

Nonetheless, I have sat down behind my computer on multiple occasions with little to no motivation when it comes to writing a novel. Sure, I have ideas. Yes, I do want to eventually publish a work of fiction. But the time, patience, and courage it takes to complete a book is really commendable.

That’s why I give MAJOR props to local authors – these are writers in and around the Pittsburgh area, some of which I personally interfaced and others in which I admire from afar.

The effort packed into each of these books is nothing short of heroic. They are also the epitome of vulnerability. Some of them have shared their life story while others have crafted fiction based upon years of countless life changes.
